Creative Team

Emily Clark (Director)

Emily Clark (she/her)  is an Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts at Marymount Manhattan College where she serves as the coordinator for Core Musical Theatre Courses and Production and teaches a plethora of courses in the Musical Theatre Program.  In addition to her teaching, Emily directs and choreographs a variety of theatrical work, including Wonderland, an all-female-identifying The Boys From Syracuse, The Who's Tommy, Urinetown, If/Then, and now her absolutely favorite musical--HAIR. Thanks to Rooftop Musical Society for this opportunity to explore and play with this piece. It's been a dream!!!!

Ben Covello (Music Director)

Ben Covello (he/him) is a New York based music director, pianist and vocal coach. His recent piano and music directing credits include the Rent 25th Anniversary Farewell Tour, Wicked, music directing at BAM, and playing piano and music directing for shows at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Birdland, and 54 Below. He loves being a part of such a creative group as the Rooftop Musical Society.

Malaikia Sims-Winfrey (Assistant Director/Stage Manager)

Malaikia aka Lake (She/her +) is a theatre artist from East Atlanta, Georgia, based in NYC. She graduated from Elon University in 2021, with two B.A degrees in Drama & Theatre Studies and Music in the Liberal Arts. Lake currently serves as the Education Apprentice at New York City Center as well as the Artistic Intern at the Drama League. In addition to her work in arts administration, Lake also has a passion for theatre directing and dramaturgy. Her most recent directorial works include Something Rotten and Little Shop of Horrors at HHS Academy for Performing and Visual Arts. Lake is so grateful for RMS for giving her the opportunity to work on her first NYC production, in this beautiful production of HAIR.

Maxwel Martinez (Lighting Designer & Tarot)

Jonathan Briffault (Sound Technician)

Jonathan Briffault (he/him), sound technician, is an aspiring foreign affairs specialist. He most recently interned at the Albright Stonebridge Group analyzing European policy and politics and spent the summer bartending at the Yellowstone Club in Montana. He graduated from Dartmouth College where he studied History, Government, and theatrical lighting design.

Katie Curtis-Lynch (House Manager)
Katie, (she/her/hers), is a founding member of Rooftop Musical Society, a lawyer, wife to ‘the light guy,’ and proud mom to two Bernese Mountain Dogs and her 9 month old human son, Gus. Her past roles include the Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods, Martha in Spring Awakening, and Sally Bowles in Cabaret. Katie is thrilled to serve as part of the welcome wagon for the Tribe!



Jacqueline Wladis (Costumes/House Manager)

Jackie, (she/her/hers) is delighted to be helping out with her second Rooftop Musical Society production! She was last seen as Phoebe in Classics on the Rocks’ production of As You Like It and previously with Rooftop as Cinderella’s Stepmother in Into The Woods. Jacqueline spends her days working on marketing campaigns so getting to flex her passion for fashion and art history in costuming this production has been a true delight! She would like to thank the tribe for being so good at following directions and the creative team for this beautifully collaborative opportunity!

Rachel Zweig (Tarot)

Rachel, (they/she) is a Brooklyn based artist, performer, and theatre educator. Favorite Musical Theatre credits include The Witch in Into the Woods, Fraulein Schneider in Cabaret, Anna in The King and I, and Amalia in She Loves Me. Last seen in Rooftop's pop up production of Sweeney Todd and immersive production of Into the Woods, Rachel is thrilled to bring their love of tarot to this production of Hair! Pearl Gopalani, (Set Designer)

Pearl (she/her) is a set and costume designer in film and theater based in New York. She graduated from Columbia University with a Master’s and most recently completed her costume and set design education at Central Saint Martins. She has done costumes for the plays Our Town, Matilda,  and Romeo and Juliet, and set design for short films Vigilant, I See You, and Bender. She is honored to be a part of Hair, the Musical!
