HAIR: The american Tribal-Love Rock Musical

STUDIO 23, FLATIRON DISTRICT

NOVEMBER 4-12th, 2022

For two weeks in November 2022, RMS transported their audience to the turbulent and trippy year of 1968 for their production of HAIR, when they took over a Flatiron loft space filled with psychedelic pop-art, fish tanks, and dozens of luxe velvet couches.

During the immersive pre-show, actors guided audience members through the fad pad, (Studio 23) where they could make protest signs and learn how to ‘yip’ in the “Manchester, England” room, discuss conspiracy theories while getting their face painted, or partake in the drum circle in the ‘community jam. ‘

A lucky few each night got to enter the Tarot room for a mystical reading from Maxwel and Rachel, while a few not so lucky got drafted into the ‘Army Induction Center’, where they got their vision and strength tested by Army Sergeants (some audience members even did pushups!). If they passed they test, they left with draft cards, which they later had the choice to burn during the show’s “Be-In”.

Then it was time to settle in for the ‘trip’, where a full band and a cast of 19 showcased the incredible story of Claude and his hippy friends, surrounded by an intimate audience.

We were honored to host the families of Galt MacDermot and James Rado at our Nov 5th performance. It was truly an honor!
