WHO WE ARE

Rooftop Musical Society is a musical theater company who started on a Brooklyn rooftop in 2018 and since aim to provide a unique theatrical experience to New Yorkers through performances in non-traditional spaces (which is not always rooftops!). Whether it's a classic musical, a themed street performance, or a cabaret, we strive to entertain our audience through immersive elements, first-rate musicianship, raw storytelling, and unique locations.

“Rooftop Musical Society is a magical company with a rare combination of talent, production quality and a warm, inspiring vibe. You can’t find better humans. They recently mounted a version of Sam Carner’s and my musical Island Song, and we were blown away and moved. I’m so happy they’re part of our theatre community and honored to call them contemporaries.”
— Derek Gregor, Composer of Island Song

CURRENT SHOWS…

Andrew Lippa’s ‘The Wild Party’

I think we’re due for a party, don’t you?

Welcome to the roaring '20s, an era of unbridled excess, where the jazz is hot and the gin is free-flowing – if you know where to find it. Join our eccentric entourage at 62 Orchard, a members-only speakeasy in the Lower East Side. Fill up your glass and try your hand at a game of chance, or find a dark corner to observe the goings-on. All eyes are on vaudeville performers Queenie and Burrs, who impulsively decide to host the party to end all parties. And what a party it will be! Abandon restraint, embrace your darkest desires, and experience the powerful allure of reckless indulgence.

Join us at 62 Orchard and dress sharp.

NEWS:

We are thrilled to be announcing our 2024 season and it promises to be WILD RIDE!

After taking a short hiatus this fall, we think we’re due for a party. Don’t you? You’re invited to join us for Andrew Lippa’s Wild Party this spring! The party takes place on the Lower East Side from April 26th to May 4th.

And in the fall, buckle up and get ready to Ride the Cyclone, a new musical with an enthusiastic following, that tells the story of six members of a Canadian chamber choir who die in a freak roller coaster accident. Awakening in a limbo, each one tells their story as part of a competition to live again. Mark your calendars- Oct 18 - Oct 26!

Auditions for Wild Party will take place January 10th and 11th and auditions for Ride the Cyclone will be announced later in the year. Make sure you join our mailing list and on instagram for the latest updates.
